So you want to drop a few pounds. Join the crowd.
Weight Loss is usually what comes to most people’s mind
when the word ‘diet’ is mentioned. Although diet and
weight loss are closely related, at least cousins, they
should be thought of separately.

Of course, with the proper diet you can lose or gain weight.

But diet is so important to good health. By starving
yourself you definitely will lose weight but if you survive,
your health may be a wreck.

For a moment forget the weight loss puddings, shakes,
powders, pills, patches, candy bars and who knows what else.

Let’s concentrate on a few healthy diet tips that should help
you reach your weight loss goals and retain your health.

Tip #1: Old advice but the best: Drink a lot of pure water.

It’s the best drink on the planet. Next best are fruit and
veggie juice. Be careful with the fruit juice it has a high
sugar content, even though it is ‘good’ sugar.

You must stay hydrated (not drowned). The body needs to
flush out what shouldn’t be there (toxins, etc.). Another
benefit is that the body will feel full so less hunger
pangs, less calories, less weight.

Water helps the skin (your biggest organ) stay supple and
retains its elasticity. No one wants skin that is hanging
loosely. Water keeps the skin beautiful and radiant.

Tip #2: Set Realistic & Achievable Goals

Go back to tip #1 – Water Goal- Drink at least 6-8 8 ounce
glasses of pure, clean water every day.

Goals are very, very important. If you don’t know where
you’re going and where you have been you’ll definitely
end up somewhere – lost and frustrated.
Keep track of your progress and your slips, slides and
successes. Be honest: The scales, at least good ones,
don’t lie, only people fool themselves.

Tip #3: Be Accountable to Someone – Not You

This tip can make or break your goals. Find someone who has
the same or close to the same goals that you do. Report
your progress to that person and do the same for them.
Criticize, complement and comment on each other’s goals.
Yes, be tough but be kind. Make sure you really reveal
each others successes and set backs. Keep good records and
keep moving ahead. Speaking of moving. See the next tip.

Tip #4: Move it, move ALL of it.

Get out of the chair, off the couch and out of the house.
O.K. the weathers bad stay in the house but do some
exercise. Walk, jump rope, dance (even with yourself, put on
some ‘moving music’; no one is watching). O.K. the sun is
back out. Play golf, play volleyball, kick the ball (not
the dog), play tennis, or just play something besides a
video game.

Secret: Learn to have fun (called exercise) while burning
calories. I know cleaning the house isn’t exactly like
going to Disney World but you can make it fun. Put on some
music and dance your way through the house. The mop and
broom make excellent dance partners. Hot music burns
calories.

Tip #5: Go look in the mirror – Smile

“Attitude is Everything” Your attitude will motivate or
destroy everything; every goal you set.
See the positive side of your dieting. Your self control
and ’stick-to-it-ness’ will raise your self esteem to new
levels. Look at your ‘failures’ as learning experiences
that you won’t repeat. In the world of sales it takes a
lot of “no” to find one “yes” but that one yes makes all
the negativity go away.
Find your “yes”. The pounds will go away also.

By: Larry L. Taylor

Tip ONE. Xnthones

Xnthones are a new classification of antioxidants. Today 200 xnthones are recognized in the scientific world. THeseare found in an Asian fruit called Mangosteen. This not to be confused with the Mango fruit. Springsteen has approximately 40 Xnthones in its fruit. Antioxidants work to
balance harmful free radicals in our bodies that may contribute to long-term health challenges.

Tip TWO. Vitamins

Studies show that 87% of Americans don’t get enough Vitamin D3. Studies have shown that 1000 iu’s of Vitamin D3 daily can reduce your risk of some major cancers by 25 to 50%. Type 2 diabetes is totally preventable and even reversible with exercise, proper diet and supplementation. John Hopkins scientist have shown in mice at least, Vitamin C and antioxidants can indeed inhibit the growth of some Tumors. Also Vitamin C protects against cataracts not to mention cardio-vascular disease and the common cold to list a few. Vitamin A is a group of compounds that play an important role in vision, bone growth, reproduction, muscles, lungs, blood and other specialized tissue. Vitamin A helps regulate the immune system, which help prevent or fight off infections by making white blood cells that destroy harmful bacteria and viruses. As you can see Vitamins are important, but most Americans don’t get enough in their diets.

Tip THREE. Minerals

Just like Vitamins, minerals help your body grow, develop, and stay healthy. The body uses minerals to preform many different functions-from building strong bones to transmitting nerve impulses. Some minerals are even used to make hormones or maintain a normal heartbeat. We get our minerals from plants and some from animals which eat the plants. Unfortunately we have depleted our soil by over farming and pesticides, so we need to supplement our minerals.

Tip FOUR. Diet

The four basic food groups of dairy, meat, vegetables, and fruit are things of the past. Today, a healthy diet encompasses a far wider range of options. Such as whole grains, legumes, seeds and nuts, fish, and even plant oils. Study by the Mayo Clinic.

Tip FIVE. Water

The human body is two thirds water. The human body can live for more than a month without food, but only a few days without water. Water is necessary for most biochemical reactions that occur in all living things. In most individuals, approximately 60% of the total weight is water.

Tip SIX. Exercise

Being active for 30-60 minutes a day can help you build strength and fitness, relax and reduce stress, gain more energy, and improve your sleep. These benefits all add up to decrease your risk of heart disease and other conditions, such as colon cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis, and high blood pressure.

Tip SEVEN. Vemma

Vemma stands for Vitamins, Essential Minerals, Mangosteen, and Aloe Vera. I recommend this product to any person who wants a healthier life or is faced with health challenges. You would have to consume daily:

2.66 oranges

9.6 avocados

1.78 cups of spinach

3.88 cups of peas

19.76 medium bananas

62.5 oz. Cheddar cheese

5.14 large potatoes

61.54 cups of tomatoes

2.46 watermelons

Health studies have shown that the health and diet of a mother from the first trimester of her pregnancy to the time she gives birth to her child are of great consequence. They help ensure her breastfeeding abilities, like sufficiency of her breast-milk’s nutrients from which her child will be wholly dependent for proper growth and development.

This assumes that it is solely a lactating mother’s outlook to sustain a good and healthy diet for her breastfeeding child. A mother who gives birth to a large baby that grows fast may experience difficulties in producing and sustaining enough quantities of milk. This is because the fat reserves she had during the pregnancy period can be lost soon after childbirth and eating well enough might become a problem for her.

Lactating mothers need a large calorie and elevated nutrition diet to promote perfect health. An unhealthy or malnourished mother may still be able to produce milk, but one that is still considered deficient in vitamins A, D, B6 and B12.

Also, nursing mothers who smoke must know that having more than 20 cigarettes a day contributes to the reduction of their breast milk supply and also causes vomiting, diarrhea, rapid heart rate and restiveness among breastfeeding infants. The dreaded Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or SIDS have also been shown to commonly occur in infants often exposed to smoke.

Heavy alcoholic drinking is also acknowledged as commonly harmful to both the mother and the baby. If you are a lactating mother, drink only small quantities of alcohol at a time or, better yet, avoid them totally. A breastfeeding mother drinking alcohol excessively can cause her lactating infant to become irritable, sleepless and may constantly demand increased feeding. But a moderate consumption of say, 1 to 2 cups a day usually has no effect on the feeding child. Lactating mothers must then avoid if not limit their alcohol intake for the sake of their breastfeeding child.

Having a healthy diet and the discipline to limit your intake of the most common and harmful elements to the body such as caffeine, alcohol and cigarettes will help to ensure that your breastfeeding child will be healthier and have better growth and development. This is a crucial stage in anyone’s life, and you may never wish something bad happening to your baby.

By: Hermilando Aberia

Being a woman in today’s demanding world is not easy. Today’s woman must hold down a job. She must also take care of the household, cook the meals, shop for groceries, pay the bills, do the laundry, drive the kids to activities and keep her husband happy. So when does she have time to take care of herself? Women today have failing health because they are trying to do too much for other people and they don’t do enough for themselves. Read on to discover a few things a woman can do to improve her health the natural way.

First of all, eat a healthy diet. You may think this is impossible with your hectic lifestyle, but it is not if you get creative. Stop buying junk food for the home. Stock up on fruits and vegetables instead. Take a few minutes and divide fruits such as strawberries, grapes, blueberries or other healthy snacks into individual ziplock baggies. Then when you are on the go and need a snack, just grab a baggie and go! You can find other creative ways to enhance your diet if you just think about it. Eating healthy is the first step to a better you.

Next, you have got to do something to decrease the stress in your life. This means taking some time to yourself. Do whatever you need to do to make time for yourself. This will mean saying no to either your kids, your husband or family and friends when they ask you do that “one little thing” for them.

Once you have some time to yourself, learn to meditate. Mediation is the easiest and most effective stress buster there is. It can energize you and make your day run so much smoother. Another way to bust up the stress is to exercise. You can choose what type of exercise you want to do. Some women love to dance, others will take long walks, while some women bust up the stress by kickboxing or weight lifting. It doesn’t matter what type of exercise you do as long as you enjoy it. If you enjoy it, you will look forward to your exercise routine every day.

Now that you are eating right and have gotten your stress levels under control, this next thing should fall into place almost automatically. It is important that you maintain a healthy weight. If you are overweight lose it. If you are a healthy weight, maintain it. You can do this by eating right and exercising. Women have a hard time getting rid of fat as they grow older. So to avoid being obese in your later years, stay at a healthy weight before you get there.

There you have some great tips on how to improve your health. Remember, even though you are a woman, you are not invincible. Make it a priority to take care of yourself. You deserve to live a long and healthy life.

By: Lambert Klein

We all can do simple things to improve our health. Here are 10 health and fitness tips which you can incorporate into your daily routine starting now.

10 Health and fitness tips

1. Drink at least 8 glasses of water each day. Not drinking enough water leads to fatigue and a false sense of hunger. If you drink enough you’ll find it easier to maintain a healthy diet and a high energy level.

2. Sleep at least 7 hours each night. If our body doesn’t get enough sleep it works less efficiently throughout the day. Sleep is also the time when our muscles develop. Not sleeping enough makes us more prone to turn our calories to ugly fat instead of lean muscle tissue.

3. Stretch before bedtime. Stretching keeps the muscles, joints, and tendons fit and limber. It also reduces the chances of injury.

4. Reduce stress. Stress has many unwanted effects on the body: it leads to overeating, it disrupts the ordinary function of internal organs, it causes the eruption of skin blemishes and acne, and much more. Reducing stress will keep you more healthy and beautiful.

5. Reduce alcohol. Alcohol is rich in calories and sugar. It can wreak havoc on the liver and kidneys. I’m not saying stop drinking entirely, just limit it to social events and make sure not to go overboard.

6. Exercise 3 times a week at least. Exercising keeps our body lean and healthy. You need to engage in both strength and cardiovascular workouts and make sure to pay attention to every muscle group. You will not only look better, you will also feel better.

7. Quit smoking. Whether you’re smoking cigarettes or anything else, just stop. Smoking is one of the worst things for your health and fitness level. It practically harms every bodily system. It also turns your teeth yellow and may damage your skin and vocal cords. So just quit.

8. Do something which challenges your mind. The connection between mind and body is crucial to your health. Like any other body part, you need to exercise your brain in order to keep it at the top of its game. Whether you do that by reading a good book, solving a puzzle, taking a class, or whatever you feel like, keeping your brain in shape is a must.

9. Watch what you eat. Try to cut down the amount of trans fat, processed sugar and white carbs that you eat. Instead, eat more fresh vegetables and fruit, complex carbs, and lean protein like chicken or turkey.

10. Enjoy yourself. Having fun once in a while is very important. Make sure to have a good laugh once every day. It loosens you up, gets your blood flowing, releases tension and stress, and is just plain fun. It’s also very healthy.

I hope you’ve found these 10 health & fitness tips useful.

There are times when even the most fitness and health conscious diner succumbs to the temptations of the buffet and calorific sweet meats. But is pigging out occasionally a harmless indulgence or a real health worry? Here are some fitness health nutrition tips to lose weight healthily.

Firstly we need to stay clued in. Knowledge is power. In other words, we have to arm ourselves with the facts about fitness, health and nutrition. For instance we need to know what a healthy diet is and ignore the fads. This way we are more likely to build confidence in our abilities and achieve our fitness goals. Long term weight control is about being realistic, and enjoying healthy eating and exercise habits for life and reaping all the benefits.

It is absolutely important to have clear motivation. It will be better to write down the reasons for wanting to achieve fitness by following a nutritious and healthy eating pattern .It definitely helps our feeling of commitment. We have to include reasons that are not just about appearance. For instance, will it help us feel fit enough to do more things that we want to do or will it cure the back pain etc.It can be a useful motivator if the going gets tough.

It helps us to become more aware of our eating habits and problem areas if we write down what we eat and drink. It is a powerful way to kick off planning and bringing changes to the diet and put us in control as it paves way to recognize what is going on and understand more about our self. Keeping a food diary helps to stay on track and see the great progress made.

Another important fitness health nutrition tip is to set realistic goals. Losing five to ten percent of the weight is an ideal target. Losing modest amounts of weight are not just easier to keep off but bring big health benefits. If the goals are realistic they are likely to be achieved and we stick with them and feel successful, which in turn boosts our self confidence.

We need to work out as to how to achieve the goals. Writing the goals and action plans helps enormously. Much of the eating we do when we are not hungry is a habit like response to a variety of triggers. We need to plan ways to avoid these triggers like keeping the binge foods out of the house or joining an evening class instead of watching TV etc.

One of the main fitness health nutrition tips is to be a conscious eater and make choices about what we eat. It will not only help us feel in control and achieve our goals, it will stop us from feeling deprived. If unwanted food cravings do strike, acknowledge them and distract oneself with a chore or a more involving task.

Finally eat regular meals, starting with the breakfast. It helps us to regulate how much we eat by stabilizing blood sugar levels and allowing us to recognize natural feelings of hunger and fullness. They also stop us from worrying about hunger as we know our next meal or snack is not far away.

All of the above fitness health nutrition tips are the latest tricks of the trade which helps one lose weight healthily. So get real and be specific, remember the first few days are always the hardest. But with perseverance, you can outwit your weight.

By: Mary Rose

If you are someone you know is going through breast cancer, you know what an emotionally and physically trying time it is. Many forms of cancer treatment only add to the discomfort that the breast cancer patient experiences. Radiation treatments, for example, can cause a great deal of fatigue and it can take up to two months for your normal levels of energy to return. Therefore, it is important to follow a few health tips in order to minimize these side effects, as well as to help you get better sooner.

One of the most important things you can do for yourself while fighting breast cancer is to get plenty of rest. Do your best to get a full nights’ sleep. And, if you feel tired during the day, take the time to sleep or rest to allow your body time to recover.

Another thing you can do is eat a healthy diet. The healthier your body is, the better prepared it will be to fight the cancer and to recover from the treatment. Be sure to include plenty of protein in your diet because the amino acids found in protein are used by your body to help repair damage.

Sometimes, eating can be a difficult task if you are undergoing treatments for breast cancer. Surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and medications can adversely affect your appetite and digestive system. You might experience nausea, vomiting, changes in taste and smell, difficulty swallowing and chewing, constipation, and pain. If you are experiencing these problems, you need to take steps to increase your appetite and to make eating easier.

Firstly, try to make mealtime enjoyable by eating with friends and family or making eating as comfortable as possible. To add variety for your taste buds and to make eating more enjoyable, try new foods or new recipes. If you engage in mild exercise ½ hour before you eat, it can also help increase your appetite. Of course, you should check with your doctor before starting any type of exercise routine. Anti-nausea medicine can also be helpful if you are vomiting or experiencing nausea.

It is also helpful if you prepare meals ahead of time while you are feeling better and freeze them. These meals can be easily reheated when you are not feeling well. You should also keep small snacks on hand to munch on when you are feeling good enough to eat. In fact, it is best to eat small meals or snacks frequently throughout the day than to eat large meals. All foods you purchase should be easy to prepare or should be ready to eat. You should also look for foods that are high in calories and protein in order to help keep your weight on. Even the fluids you consume should be high in calories and protein. If you are having a hard time chewing and swallowing, you should puree your foods or purchase foods that are easy to swallow, such as applesauce, soup, baby food, pudding, and yogurt.

Additionally, there are a number of, herbs and vitamins which promote breast health.

By: R.

Staying healthy on campus may be one of the more overlooked items of importance when it comes to college living… especially when there are more important things such as deadlines and midterms to be concerned with. But what many college students tend to forget is that on campus, illnesses run rampant especially in the winter. The risks are too great to avoid a daily dose of healthy reminders in order to stay healthy and not have to miss too much class for reasons that could have been avoided. Here are some tips to help college students stay healthy and going strong at the university.

First, before heading off to college, it would be a good thing to get your vaccinations in order. There is a big mix of completely different people from all around the world in close quarters with one another and disease and illness can be easily spread, especially when using shared resources like those of colleges and universities.

Put together a healthy eating plan. With the hectic schedule college demands, it is very easy to simply grab whatever is easy to eat such as a double cheeseburger and onion rings…every day. The dorms make it very easy to not only consume deep fried foods regularly, but in quite an amazing abundance. Try to focus on a healthy diet, sticking with fruits and vegetables and try to make those things, such as french fries, you know shouldn’t be going into your body more like rewards than an everyday necessity in your diet.

Get enough sleep. Sleep is so important in order to keep yourself healthy. Many college students believe sleep is overrated, yes, I confess…but now I correct that mistake. Lack of sleep will only make things worse in the lines of illnesses and even academics. Yes, you may do just fine without sleep, but just think about how much more you will enjoy your college experience while potentially even doing better than you are WITHOUT sleep. No sleep = heightened risk of illness due to lower immune system defense and more.

Try to keep a regular exercise schedule. Sitting around and studying may exercise your brain cells but not necessarily the rest of your body. You can use the college gym or just take a run, but it is a good thing to get the blood circulating through your body and brain. This oxygenation will help improve your studies and will make many things a lot easier for you in the long run, not to mention boost your immune system.

Drink plenty of water. Many students tend to forget this and simply grab a soda. Let’s see…you need a quick drink as you are on the go, ah yes soda machine! You stick your hand in your pocket to find only a little change left. “Oh man I forgot I had those other three sodas earlier. Darn, I am so thirsty and I need something for class!”

Keep a water bottle in your bag and keep it filled. It does wonders and not to mention helps keep your body healthy.

In regards to the “communal living” aspect of college, make sure you are cautious of all the different people who use the restroom at your dorm. This is not home where mom may clean up after you. The college restrooms are, indeed, cleaned once a day or so, but they can get dirty really quick. Wear flip flops in the shower and make sure you try to avoid placing things on the counter tops such as razors that you may be shaving and such with. Be sure to wash your hands regularly in college as well.

Even though it may be rather difficult to remember to do all these things, this is not all. In fact there are many other tips at our website and more. But all I am trying to say in this article is to simply be a little more cautious about staying healthy in college in order to help you stay healthy as well as others. Good luck with all of your future college endeavors and stay well!

By: S. Michael Windsor

Healthy diet fitness is essential if you are trying to get into shape. Before you start doing any type of exercise program, you should schedule an appointment with your doctor. Discuss your health diet fitness goals, and ask for guidance in coming up with an effective exercise routine. It is important that you start slow and work your way into longer and harder work out sessions. You can hurt your body if you push yourself too hard in the beginning. You are also less likely to stick with the exercise routine if you push too hard in the beginning.

The best health diet fitness tip I can give you is to get yourself moving. It doesn’t matter what type of exercise you get as long as you get some. In fact, the more you like the activity, the more likely you are to stick with the exercise routine. Choose several types of exercise you enjoy doing so you can alternate between them. This will keep you from getting bored with the some routine every day. Make exercising fun rather than something you dread and avoid.

You are going to have to make time for health diet fitness to work for you. We all have busy lifestyles, but if you have time to watch TV then you have time to exercise. Try to do it right after work if you are going to be exercising outside of your home. This is because most people aren’t motivated to venture back out once they have come home in the evening. Schedule your health diet fitness routine into your daily schedule and do not use that block of time for anything less than an emergency.

If you are planning to work out at the gym or at home, make sure you understand the correct way to do the exercises. For health diet fitness, you need to do each one properly. Failure to do so can result in the exercises not working for you to get into shape or lose weight. This can also result in your causing injuries to your body. Know your physical limits. If an exercise calls for touching the floor and you can only reach your ankles then do the best you can. Make it a goal to be able to reach the floor in the future and continue to do the very best you can.

Make sure you take time to warm up and cool down regardless of the health diet fitness program you are involved in. You need to give your muscles a chance to stretch before and after you exercise. Never skip warming up or cooling down or you can cause severe injury to your body. You will also find your muscles ache more the next day because they have tightened up.

Health diet fitness involves making sure the exercise routines you participate in are approved by your doctor as well as fit with your physical capabilities. You didn’t get out of shape overnight so don’t anticipate getting back into shape that quickly. Make sure you make time to participate in your health diet fitness routine that you have chosen. Challenge yourself to stay committed to the time you have set aside for exercise. You will start to feel better after just a few weeks of doing so.

By: Roger Michaelson
