Affordable health insurance rate: Anybody who implements time-tested tips will easily get cheaper rates while maintaining adequate coverage. But also bear in mind that you could make savings if you get the wrong tips. The only thing is that you’d put yourself at risk. If you want tips that you can make use of to save much and still maintain adequate coverage, read the following…

1. You can lower your costs by registering with an HMO. HMOs offer coverage that is cheaper than regular health insurance. However, joining an HMO means you’re restricted to the use of only doctors, other medical professionals and hospitals that are part of the network.

If you think that the restrictions of an HMO are more than the benefits you get, you can choose other health insurance plans.

You will pay very low rates for traditional health insurance if you shop extensively. This is a proven way to pay cheaper rates while using a regular health insurance plan.

But if you are ready to go with the limited choices, then an HMO is a great option for slashing your cost.

2. There are persons who are not eligible for special health insurance for low-income earners and at the same time don’t really earn enough to easily pay for standard health insurance. In case this defines you, then you can save on health care by purchasing a discount medical card.

This type of card permits you to use a network of health care providers who are contracted to give services at more affordable rates to all card carriers. These cards are not managed by any health insurance carrier.

It’s also a wise choice for individuals with a pre-existing health condition that will disqualify them from most health insurance companies or make them attract prohibitive premiums. One advantage of a discount medical card is that everyone is accepted. All you have to do is pay a cheap monthly fee and you will be eligible to use the services of a network of health care providers at a reduced rate.

3. People who own home businesses are given a unique chance to pay less by many states. Such states demand that insurance providers offer home based businesses the same rates as they do other (larger) businesses. And all it takes for your home business to be eligible is just one employee.

You can have your wife/husband or grown up child to work as an employee. The good thing is that such a worker mustn’t work full time to qualify you. Group rates are generally cheaper so do your best to take advantage of this if you are a home business owner.

To know if your state gives such or if your home business is qualified, contact your state’s department of insurance.

4. You will pay less on health care if you make use of no-appointment ambulatory care centers or emergi-centers. Think seriously about saving on health insurance with this alternative if you’re the type that rarely needs to visit a doctor because you’re always in good health. If you make a comparison with an emergency room in a hospital, emergi-centers are cheaper.

5. An easy but rewarding way of bringing down your premium is by authorizing an EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer). By doing this you authorize your insurance carrier to automatically withdraw your payments from your account when due. This saves an insurer’s overhead by eliminating the necessity of payment notices or checks. This is why this results in discounts.

6. Get and compare many quotes. You will save much by visiting not less than 5 quotes sites. That way, you’ll be able to get the lowest quotes available since five sites will present not less than 25 quotes altogether.

By: Chimezirim Chinecherem Odimba

I’m going to explain some of the most common terms that you may need to know when seeking out low cost health insurance. See how many you know. These definitions may answer some of your questions. I’ve found that some may help you get cheaper health insurance quotes online.

Preexisting condition. A condition in which a physical or mental condition in which any kind of medical advice is given is given to you before the date the policy takes effect. This can be a problem for many and has caused many people to be turned down. But there are still health insurance companies that will insure you at a higher rate.

Health Maintenance Organization. A health maintenance organization is a managed care plan which has the ability to let you choose your primary care physician from a list maintained by the HMO. These directories are often out of date even though they’re published annually. Before you select a physician call the office number listed to make sure they’re still part of the HMO’s network. I’ve found that doctors have moved away or left the program and still are listed two years later.

Qualified plan. This means that any claims or benefits that are paid by a qualified long-term care plan are usually not taxable as income. Check with your tax advisor on this if you have any questions.

Leaving your current job and medical or health insurance. If you change jobs or become unemployed you can carry your group coverage along with you to your new job. You’ll only be able to use the coverage for 18 months at the most. Don’t wait until the last minute to get low cost health insurance coverage.

Start seeking out new coverage early if your new employer doesn’t carry it or if you’re unemployed. If you’re unemployed you’d need to buy an individual health plan or policy. You’ll definitely want to look for cheaper rates and you can easily get low cost health insurance quotes online.

Hard costs you have with an individual plan. So choose carefully:

1. Premiums. You’ll have to make payments periodically whether you use any of the services or not, just like auto insurance.
2. Deductibles. You’ll have to pay out of your pocket for one or more services annually before your plan will start paying for any of your medical expenses.
3. Co-payments. These are the payments you make each time you see your doctor or go to the urgency clinic or emergency room that are matched by your health care provider (HMO or PPO.)

HMO Plan and PPO Plan: If you decide to get a PPO plan the PPO plans will cost you more. Although PPO plans usually offer a wider range of doctors to choose from which may be important to you. And HMO plans usually have more restricted services than a PPO plan. If you’re looking for cheaper or low cost health insurance go with the HMO plan.

Take some of these things into consideration when choosing a plan. Even affordable health insurance rates can be high so you’ll want to cut corners any way you can. One good way is to go to one of the sites that lets you get several quotes at once, saving you a lot of time and you can easily compare rates with low cost health insurance quotes online.

By: Helen Hecker

When choosing a health policy, how do you know if you’ve picked the right one? While there seems to be a million and one companies, taking the right steps can help you to make the right health insurance choice. Here are some tips to get it done:

1. Learn their financial rating.

There are special companies that provide financial ratings for different health insurance companies. This will help to ensure that the company is financially stable. Is it a guarantee that the company could never become bankrupt? No, but a high financial rating would mean that that situation less likely.

2. Verify that the company is fully licensed in your region.

While this may seem overly obvious, it’s a check that you should make. Here’s why. If the company were to go belly-up, it’s less likely that your local government could provide you with any assistance. On the other hand, if the company is fully licensed, then there’s a better chance that you’ll be protected if the company goes bankrupt. So take the time to make this verification.

3. Learn about the company’s approach to customer service.

This is a key factor when making a health insurance choice. Basically, you get what you pay for. If you don’t mind taking a virtual number until a call-center representative services you, then you’ll probably pay less for health coverage. But if you want more personalized service, then you’ll likely need to pay more.

4. Decide which bells and whistles you need.

When searching for high-end coverage, then you’ll have to pay accordingly. Meanwhile, more basic coverage will have a more competitive price tag. First determine which perks you need, and then find the cheapest policy that provides them.

When making a health insurance choice, these basic tips will help you to choose wisely. After all, your health is definitely worth it!

By: Andy J. Hughes

Health insurance costs: If you must attract big discounts, then you must NOT miss certain things. I’ll discuss a good number of them in this article…

1. If you earn little then you may be eligible for Medicaid. Different states have different eligibility criteria. But fundamentally, they are for families with low incomes. Having a job doesn’t make you ineligible.

It would lower your cost if you or any family member meets the criteria. Therefore, verify from your state’s Medicaid program.

2. There are people who are not eligible for special health insurance for low-income earners and at the same time don’t really earn enough to easily pay for regular health insurance. If you are one of such, then you can reduce your budget for health care by getting a discount medical card. So what are they?

With this special kind of card you are given medical attention from a network of health care professionals who have agreed to render services to card carriers at more affordable rates. Such cards are not issued by insurance companies.

It’s as well a great alternative for people who may have a pre-existing ailment that will make them uninsurable with most health insurance companies or make them pay very exorbitant premiums. There are no exclusions for any reason. You only need to pay a monthly subscription to qualify to use their network of doctors.

3. Phone med services will help you reduce your costs. These are free community services that provide medical advice by phone 24/7. You have at least a registered nurse with a minimum of ten years experience on hand to offer free medical advice you can trust. Local clinics provide free medical help by phone in most cases.

Although this does not take the place of seeing a doctor, they can actually reduce your cost by bringing down the number of visits you make to a doctor.

The help you get from them could also help you take safety measures that will prevent a serious ailment. For these and other reasons, use these free medical services.

4. The amount you’re prepared to contribute to payments for each time you see the doctor has an effect your rate. This is known as your co-pay. Raising your co-pay reduces your premium. If you hardly ever have to see a doctor, you may save a lot by selecting a high co-pay.

5. You can get higher premiums just because your vocation exposes you to many hazards. You can reduce your rates if you change to another profession that doesn’t expose you to hazards. If your work exposes you to dangerous chemicals, for example, your premiums will be much more than that given to a comparable profile who maybe works as a cashier in a bank.

6. As you take other steps to cut down your health insurance premium, here’s something you can do to get lower rates today. Visit good quotes sites and get quotes. Visit at least five of such sites for the best results. It’s free, quick and easy. Make sure you give your correct details as you complete the forms presented. Thereafter, simply choose the offer that represents the best price/value from the quotes you’ve obtained.

By: Chimezirim Chinecherem Odimba

Times are tough and money is tight for a lot of people. Millions of people are in need of healthcare but cannot afford medical coverage. A recent Harvard study found that 45,000 deaths per year are directly related to a lack of affordable health insurance. So what can be done about this? How can you find affordable coverage with a quality company?

The first thing you will have to do is evaluate your needs. If you are generally healthy and only visit the doctor once in a while for a general checkup, you can go with a plan that has a higher co-pay with lower monthly premiums. On the other hand, if you have a chronic illness and need to visit the doctor on a regular basis, it may be more cost effective for you to go with a plan that has higher monthly premiums but a much lower co-pay. If you require prescription medication you will also need to find a plan that gives you the best price for your medication.

To find a quality healthcare provider you can do a little research by visiting one of the popular consumer reporting type websites. These websites provide ratings on various insurance companies in categories such as coverage options, pricing, customer service, overall customer satisfaction etc. These ratings are compiled by polling customers of the different health insurance companies and getting their feedback. This type of information can be very helpful when you’re trying to make a decision on which insurance company to go with.

The cost of coverage is a major concern for many people. If you work for a company that offers medical benefits you will have your choice of the various options that they make available to you. However, if you are self employed, unemployed, or work for a small company that does not offer benefits you will have to find health insurance on your own and it could be difficult to find a quality company at a good price.

Fortunately, finding an affordable price does not have to be as difficult as you might think. There are a lot of websites that allow you to get multiple quotes from a number of different insurance providers from one website without the need to go to dozens of websites or spend countless hours on the phone to get a rate quote. You can literally go to one website, fill out a short online form, push a button, and almost instantly get back a number of quotes from several different insurance providers. The whole process takes just a few minutes and allows you to quickly compare the rates of a number of different companies side by side. Finding the best price has never been easier.

By: Ryan Richardson
